Studying Medicine Abroad

The Study of Medicine is an education in the science and art of healing. The aim of an education in medicine is to maintain and restore health through the prevention and treatment of illness. Medical students go on to practice health care as either a physician, doctor, or more specifically, a surgeon or pediatrician. The requirements of an education in medicine differ between countries, and can last anywhere from five to eight years.

It might sound ironical but studying MBBS in India is much more expensive than studying it from another country.

MBBS in abroad for Indian students at low cost is not a myth. It has been found that if a student pursues MBBS from a private medical college in India, s/he will spend 75 lacs or more. Whereas, if s/he study medicine abroad, it will between 9 to 60 lacs.

Due to this huge cost, they are left with only two options and, i.e., either take admission in government medical college of India or go to another country.

However, if the student chooses the former one, they’ll have to face a severe competition. As the number of government medical colleges is very less in comparison to the number of aspirants.

In 2016, there were only 25,085 MBBS seats in government medical colleges against more than 7 lac aspirants across the country.

Whereas, in 2015, 6.3 lac students appeared for AIPMT test when the total number of seats were 52000. Out of which, government colleges have only 25000 seats (including 15% all-India quota).

Please note that now, undergraduate medical aspirants will have to clear National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). It will be common for admission to undergraduate medical course (i.e., MBBS)  in all medical colleges of the country.

So if you are planning to pursue MBBS, without burning a hole in your pocket, then either study relentlessly for Indian medical entrance exam (with no guarantee of success) or study MBBS abroad at low cost.

Because studying MBBS from a private medical college is expensive, gives no surety of quality education, and does ensure getting a job in the top notch hospitals in the country.

MBBS in abroad for Indian students is much cheaper. Also, when it comes to the quality of education, it is at par with that of AIIMS and other renowned institutions of our country.

So, if you have made your mind to study medicine abroad, then make sure that you select the right destination.
